A prominent ayurvedic specialist, renowned for treatment of broken bones, at the Lelangama Wedamadura in the Ruwanwela was arrested by the Ruwanwela  police for allegedly raping six female patients around the ages of 15-16.

Following complaints made to the Women and Child Protection Bureau of the Ruwanwela police, they had sought a special search warrant from the Ruwanwela magistrate, following which this arrest was made.

When the alleged victims were referred to the Kegalle Judicial Medical Officer, it was confirmed that one of them had been raped, while the others were still undergoing medical tests.

The 45-year-old specialist will appear before the Ruwanwela magistrate tomorrow.
