Australia reached 76 for 2 at lunch on the first day of the first test against Sri Lanka at the Galle International Stadium.

After losing two wickets are falling to 36 for 2, Michael Clarke and Ricky Ponting saw the visitors to lunch, without the loss of a further wicket. Both batsmen were on 21.

Suranga Lakmal and Rangana Herath bagged a wicket each. (S. M. D.)
