AGAIN ASANTHA DE MEL , THAT JOKER WITH HIS MUPPETS. Truly how many great cricketers SL produced, but again the same faces. Asantha is not a good selector, same as Dulip, but he is close relation of our first Lady. Everywhere should be only Rajapaksha family members ((((((((((

achtung Friday, 20 January 2012 06:45 AM
so did aravinda - his selection panel was good enough to win us our first series in aus. and also make the finals of the WC.

so what's new!
Nodrog Friday, 20 January 2012 04:53 AM
Please Asantha, don't hedge the team.
Fan Friday, 20 January 2012 04:28 AM
Isn't this the same joker who announced Vaas's retirement before Vaas could, and publicly said that "Sanath would be selected based on merit, from this point on wards"!!! not to mention his little mess up with that fuel hedging deal. Unbelievable how such incompetence can be rewarded!!
Nodrog Friday, 20 January 2012 04:24 AM
Pity we have to rely on this same old 'Yes Men' who did nothing when given the job previously. More suitable gentlemen who can do a better won't take the job because of the political interference.
Michael Friday, 20 January 2012 02:44 AM
Another Damp Squib. We need someone with a backbone like Aravinda De Silva
clifford Friday, 20 January 2012 02:21 AM
First find a way of hedging Cricket or the cricketers and make a fast buck before the curtain falls ans game ends. soon soon please
Antonius Abeywardane Friday, 20 January 2012 01:32 AM
I think its time the President fire the sports minister and find someone who knows about sports. As the last time Asantha de mel was the chief of selectors nothing happened we went down.Shame.
Ranjith Thursday, 19 January 2012 08:33 PM
Our selection committees in last two decades mainly comprised of past bowlers with no cricketing brain. Two long standing selectors in the current committee always pushed their own favourites. Decent knowledgeable cricketers like Mahanama, Madugalla, Roy Dias can't work with these arrogant political henchmen.
Ruwan Ferdinandez Thursday, 19 January 2012 03:17 PM
Let's do a hedging deal to sell a couple of aging players?
batik mangala Thursday, 19 January 2012 07:00 PM
KOTA UDA!
Don Thursday, 19 January 2012 06:49 PM
I wonder how Marvan would work with de Mel, after latter was called 'Muppet' by the former in that infamous interview. Really hope that all will leave disputes behind and work together towards the betterment of the country.
sumathi Thursday, 19 January 2012 04:51 PM
oh no! not this man again! the curse on SL cricket would continue
Umpire Thursday, 19 January 2012 04:38 PM
Old wine in new bottles!!!

The task of selecting of players for the game of Cricket at National level is basically a profession of (Technically very Sound Batsmen)educated knowledgeable wealthy Cricketers of vast experience.
slfan99 Thursday, 19 January 2012 04:05 PM
I thought Mr. Asantha De Mel was behind the Hedging deal and he got removed from CPC. Now he is back to his old job.
Fayad Thursday, 19 January 2012 04:05 PM
Why Asantha ??? Ideal person for the the job is Siddath Wethamuny When he was chairman of selectors he did a wonderful job.
Kanage Thursday, 19 January 2012 04:13 PM
Citibank & Deutz Bank will henceforth guarantee that at the least all matches & Test/one day series will be a draw. No problem of hedging deals on cricket!
De Silva Thursday, 19 January 2012 04:03 PM
It will be the same story. De Mel was sacked after messing up the world Cup selections and now reappointed.
What a joke????? There is no cricket in Sri lanka without Mendis & De mel.
Anjula Thursday, 19 January 2012 03:51 PM
Another culprit begin with this appointment, See his tenure in Petroleum as chairman and what he has damaged it with many under the table money deal. Actually SL cricket need only good guy who honestly can judge good young players & develop them future SL team,
niyaz noordeen Thursday, 19 January 2012 03:59 PM
Well done. Was the oil sledging incident not enough? Shame on the ones who appointed this traitor of our country. Maybe he will scrape off what ever is left in the SLC coffers.
Ex-National player Thursday, 19 January 2012 03:54 PM
THINGS WILL GO FROM BAD TO WORSE FOR SRI LANKA. OUR TEST STATUS TOO WILL BE LOST IN THE NEAR FUTURE, WITH THESE KIND OF INEPT ADMINISTRATORS. AT A TIME ALL OTHER TEST PLAYING COUNTRIES ARE GO FOR THEIR HIGHLY TALENTED YOUNGSTERS WHO HAVE CONSTANTLY PERFORMED WELL, WHEN THEY WANT REPLACEMENTS, OUR SAME OLD SELECTORS TRY TO FIND WAYS OF INCLUDING PLAYERS WHO GO BEHIND POLITICIANS. AFTER ALL THIS IS THE ONLY GAME THAT WE PERFORM SUCCESSFULLY AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL AMONG INTERNATIONAL GAMES, THEREFORE IT IS A NATIONAL DUTY TO PLAY ALWAYS THE BEST PLAYERS AVAILABLE. THE PERSONS WHOEVER RESPONSIBLE SHOULD KNOW THAT, THE CRICKET AT NATIONAL LEVEL IS NOT A PLACE TO ENTERTAIN HENCHMEN
Michael Thursday, 19 January 2012 03:12 PM
Aravind De Silva would have been the best choice. His knowledge of the game is unmatched and he excellent in spotting upcoming talent.
