Arrested for protesting against MR

Nineteen workers of the pro-LTTE MDMK party were arrested in Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu on Saturday for staging a protest against Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, police said.

They shouted slogans against Rajapaksa, protesting his visit to watch the World Cup final between India and Sri Lanka being held at Mumbai, they said. They also set Rajapaksa's effigy on fire but police extinguished the blaze, police added. (PTI)
