Arrested for possessing drugs

Navy personnel seized 36 kilos of cannabis in the seas of Silavathurai area and arrested two men who possessed the drugs.

At the time of the arrest they were heading towards Silavathurai. Navy suspect they had bought this consignment from India.
 
The two suspects were handed over to the Silavathurai police, Navy spokesman Commander Kosala Warnakulasuriya said.
 
The Navy is continuously engaged in surveillance patrol along the coastal belt of the island in preventing smuggling, drug trafficking and illegal maritime activities. (SD)
