At least 35 people including 25 women were arrested by the Police Naval Division on charges of dumping garbage into the Kelani River and Hamilton Canal yesterday.
Police said eight men and 20 women had been arrested in Peliyagoda and Wattala areas when they were dumping garbage into the Kelani River while another seven people including five women were arrested at Hekitta and Modara.
Police said the arrested were released on police bail and to be produced in Court.
