    Ruwanthi Wednesday, 03 November 2010 12:19 PM

So what you r saying is the Uni students wasting public money by not lerning. So then send the other failed students (from ) A/L to UNi .then they will keep learning

    chandi Wednesday, 03 November 2010 08:42 AM

University is the time, whilst studying, for discussions, politics, dissent. This is the same worldwide. You pontificate on many things and then you pass out and start living the 9 - 5 life. Putting up posters all over should not be done. An example should be set by the Govt. followed by all the Tuition masters and companies selling products.

Suppression by illegal and legal means is a recipe for disaster. Parents should step in and gather moderate religious and civil society people to intervene to bring sanity to the situation. The people ruling this country needs counselling more than the students!

    Imtias Wednesday, 03 November 2010 09:06 AM

Thank you boys for all your good and bad comments.

Don’t find a silly mistake and huf & puf to bring the house down.

The boys got arrested could be innocent… It hurts to read certain comments. After all they are our brothers.

By the way I’m not an English Graduate

    Select Wednesday, 03 November 2010 09:10 AM

May be the same reason why politcians paste posters everywhere during the election times....! These politcians wouldn't have given free education.

    Ranjith Wednesday, 03 November 2010 09:11 AM

Meyanam sure ekata OL vath pass vela nethuva athi. lankavatama hodai

    Select Wednesday, 03 November 2010 09:16 AM

This is truth. At least to understand the truth they should have an education. People see only Uni problem but not the wasting of public money.

    sw Wednesday, 03 November 2010 09:17 AM

With succession of incompetent ministers handling the portfolio the current situation is the natural outcome.

    Select Wednesday, 03 November 2010 09:20 AM

Going so tough in posters will end up with KATAKATHA media. You will see how much valuable it on that day.

    Dinesh Wednesday, 03 November 2010 09:21 AM

    Imtia taken a U turn...........lol

Without wasting our money... Go back to the University & start studying!

Janatha Chinthanya Wednesday, 03 November 2010 04:45 AM

Ban All posters on public & private properties and arrest everyone who paste them and take legal action against the organization involved in such campaign. We want a clean country.

    Jason Wednesday, 03 November 2010 10:10 AM

Best course of action for these rogue students is to slap them with Uni fees. They will then think twice before doing such stupid acts.

    Bernard Wednesday, 03 November 2010 03:57 PM

Yes, that is the goal of the Govt. to crush the public edu through the police state measures. Its time for workers and professionals to come forward to protect the limited ways available for ordinary folks' right of expression.

    Sophia Wednesday, 03 November 2010 04:56 AM

Aney paw aney - they are innocent know aney.

    sena Wednesday, 03 November 2010 10:22 AM

JVP,JVP,JVP,JVP,JVP for everything JVP behind. What nonsencese. Mind U not only in SL, students do protests in almost all the countries when they have problems. Is the JVP behind in all those protests. In our universities there were such protests even prior to JVP inception.
People will soon get fed up with this monotonous allegation.
No one can evade real concerns of students just by belittling those protests as JVP acts.

    Nilantha Wednesday, 03 November 2010 05:01 AM

Two Innocent kids whose parents spent all of their money to send these to university.....
Sadly they followed JVPers instead what their parents want.
    Another sad story

    Srilaknan Wednesday, 03 November 2010 05:02 AM

Who's gonna arrest people who ruin all the walls with posters of the government? Most of the walls are covered with those actually.

    jayant Wednesday, 03 November 2010 05:03 AM

It is clearly undemocratic to ban this when every nook and corner of the country was polluted with posters during the elections. You did not think of cleanliness then, and why only now?

    Dheen Wednesday, 03 November 2010 10:31 AM

Hi Imtias, I am sorry if I have hurt you. Unfortunately, you sounded as if you are an authority on English and at the end making a silly mistake. Take it easy chum.

    Lover Wednesday, 03 November 2010 05:18 AM

Aney Paw Anay .... Sophia Oyath yanna poster gahanna. how many important things are there be solved in our country. These students waste public money. If they are in uni to learn they need to learn if Gov started charging them they will learn things without wasting time & money. .

    Lam Wednesday, 03 November 2010 05:32 AM

people who are commenting against university students here have never been near a university at least due to raining

    Piratheepan Wednesday, 03 November 2010 05:36 AM

Advise to MR for next election.

    Dheen Wednesday, 03 November 2010 05:42 AM

Please use the three weapons consultation, consensus and compromise that will solve any problem irrespective of its nature and status.

asoka abeywardena Wednesday, 03 November 2010 05:45 AM

Arrest all who is pasting posters and make sure not to arrest people who paste government posters...

Nina Kamal Wednesday, 03 November 2010 05:48 AM

Agree, I have seen in some places the cow eating posters whats left hanging on the wall.... perhaps may be the paste was made out of 'punnakku'..... Yes, ban all type of posters, erect boards, where posters can be pasted - these boards will be used only for this purpose - stray cows will also stay away.... We don't need to dirty the walls every where, we don't need to slaughter the cows that walk all over the street........

    Imtias Wednesday, 03 November 2010 05:53 AM

I am sure most of these comments are from people who haven't even seen a university hence they make such comments.
Manage to read and write few lines in English does not mean there comments make any sense.
    .

The Liberal Wednesday, 03 November 2010 07:16 PM

the slippery slope of a failing democracy ...first they ban the posters, then free speech...then the thought police come in....
    ladies and gentleman...RAJAPAKISTAN!

    Surasena Wednesday, 03 November 2010 05:59 AM

we should start from somewhere or make up our minds to live in a hell

    shanthi Wednesday, 03 November 2010 06:21 AM

Free Education is the cause for all these problems , if they are charged they will know the value of the money & education.

    DD Wednesday, 03 November 2010 06:23 AM

This is one of the medium that is available to express their views without dirturbing others like raleys.so what is the problem to others ?

    seruvila Wednesday, 03 November 2010 08:46 PM

    send them jail.

    koneswaransaro Wednesday, 03 November 2010 06:41 AM

First Govt. must arrest the persons who pastes the pro Govt.political posters and ruin the city walls. That is the correct path towards peace Lanka.

    bundawa Wednesday, 03 November 2010 09:25 PM

This is a tipical baberisum in our blood, it is showiing the colour after the ltte is defeated.

manmohan singh Wednesday, 03 November 2010 06:48 AM

Why most peope are against students... why not talking about ministers incapability to solve these problems...
ministers too living from our tax money... not just living wasting ....

asoka abeywardena Wednesday, 03 November 2010 06:52 AM

Imtiaz, people are frustrated of listening to professor's and politician's comments. So lets enjoy reading, at least we have a forum like this to express our thoughts and do not take seriously.

    Dheen Wednesday, 03 November 2010 06:53 AM

Hi Imtias! you being an English graduate as you claim have made a silly spelling mistake - Correct the word "there" to read as "their" and also check your spelling in future before making a comment. Good luck chum.
