They have no other way of getting money like others unlike drug traffickers, abducters demanding ransom, treasure hunters etc. They are selling their bodies, which is the oldest profession in the world.

There is lot of crime in sri lanka, police should spend more time catching murderas, drug dealers , rapist , robbers etc, than going after prostitutes which are easy work,(soft targets)
Make prostitution legal like in Bombay,France , Holland, Germany, even in uk 2 women can work from a premises legally, if it is more than 2 it is class as a brothel and it is illegal.

If a woman is found in a man's room in a hotel it does not mean she is a prostitute. It could be an act of mutual consent with no money changing hands. There is a supreme court ruling on this where the police raided a rest house and took all the couples into custody. The Lady Judge said that what a man and a woman do behind closed doors in not the business of the Police. These morons just do not know what they are about. No wonder nobody has any respect for the cops .

That term 'human rights' may cause some allergic reactions in our country. The concept is unfathomable to some.

Prostitution is not an offense under current law. This is just pure harassment.
Katta Kuvera Friday, 15 June 2012 01:32 PM
This is infringing on their human rights.

How do they know they were prostitutes in the first place?

These girls are doing this for a living, protect them. Go after the doctors who demand their fees in cash. Imagine the thousands they earn all un-taxed!!

Prostitutes should be handled with kid gloves, it's the pimps that should be behind bars.

What is wrong in engaging in prostitution? It is the right of an adult to do so. We must think like in the 21st century. We are way too primitive.
