Army Commander Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya adressing troops who were involved in the final battle against the LTTE, refuted charges leveled against the troops who took part in the operation against the LTTE leadership insisting that the troops never acted inhumanly.

The army website quoted Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya as telling the troops of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) that on the day of the final battle and the previous day he was able to give necessary instructions to officers and soldiers of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on the next course of action that should be taken.

When the entire Army and the motherland faced an embarrassing situation at national and international level due to false information propagated by different parties to achieve narrow political gains, our Commander-in-Chief, the President told me personally that the Army would never be allowed to be plagued with such an embarrassment, the Army Chief said, according to the Army website.

“I flatly refused those false allegations, made on incidents at the battle front. I must stress that our Army which is highly disciplined never acted so inhumanly or without discipline. I always defend you and I never allowed anyone to scoff at the greatness and popularity achieved by our Army and I state this with great responsibility as Commander of the Army,” he added.

you are confirming what Gen. Sarath Fonseka also told. Gen Fonseka told that the Army didn't violate Human Rights at last stages of the War. No difference, Gen. even asked those who accuse the Army to prove their allegation and that he will face any inquiry on behalf of the Army, so who is now highlighting this issue over and over again? firstly its some countries abroad, secondly YOU the Sri Lankan Govt. for cheap politics, Dear Army commander, don't think people are FOOLS any more its a shame that an Army commander like you who has no spine

Thank you commander for adding more truth to what happened during final days of the battle. One can be a soldier any day any time. But becoming a soldier and a gentleman is a difficult task. You have achieved the latter and have safeguarded the honour of our heroic soldiers.

"The proudest head of statein the world forbids the army to be embarresed at these allegations that have betrayed the whole nation!"

Little does "proudest president" realise that by calling it a "betrayal" rather than a "fabrication" he is confirming the authenticity of the claim. He then goes on to bravely proclaim that he will not allow the army to be embarrassed as if he has any control over such a thing...LOL! The man must think he is so powerful as to be able to cure embarrasment by merely decreeing that we should not be embarressed!

What did Sarath Fonseka do before Mahinda was President.
Nothing! Pooneryn, Elephant Pass and Killinochi was lost by CBK, Mangala and Balagalle. Had it not been for Janaka Perera Queen's House would have been shared by Velupullai and Chandrika!
