Leader of the PLOTE, Dharmalingham Siddharthan told the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) today that the involvement of the army in certain matters should be limited as it hampers with the process of development and reconciliation in the North.

“While the presence of the army in the north was a positive thing but its involvement in certain matters could at times be damaging to the communities in the area. The people have to go to the army camps to get help with anything. Even the Government Agent cannot act independently without the presence of the army,” Mr. Siddharthan said.

The army is doing a tremendous job in the rebuilding if army involvement is limited who else will do that work these politicians want to make trouble for their survival

The commission has not wound up its hearings, why rushing comments here, there are others to give their opinions- unlike the moot court the commission should find it findings and it should be forwarded to; the President may implement or may not implement the recommendations, commentators should restrain their comments as there are so many giving their comments in camera too!

This is what most of these guys said during the war as well.

whether he went to the north or not is irrelevant here. The fact is absolutely correct. Should address this issue in order to speed up reconciliation process.

    Thambi Tuesday, 26 October 2010 01:33 AM

    Farook Monday, 25 October 2010 10:21 PM

The PLOTE leader is plotting something!

    V Andrew Monday, 25 October 2010 09:04 PM

Have you ever been to the North, "Wasala"? Have you ever seen what the people went through under LTTE/SL Army Controls??

    surendra Monday, 25 October 2010 07:28 PM

why the Army should involve on civil matters in the north and east ? is the north and east is a seperate country from sri lanka ? once the war is finished the Armys duty is over and they have to confine to their barracks. the Army involvement in all matters will create another problem in the country.

    Susantha Monday, 25 October 2010 05:35 PM

So many soldiers did NOT lay down their lives TO hand over the north to tamils on a golden platter..

    Thinuka Monday, 25 October 2010 05:28 PM

exactly, Where U were on LTTE time, Y Dharmalingham didn't speck on then.. Real BS

    Mushi Monday, 25 October 2010 04:39 PM

Maybe he doesn't like army personally as Army defeated LTTE. When Army movement is restricted, they can do all free hand right. It is fair if he says, police should take initiatives instead of army.

    Rasika Monday, 25 October 2010 04:07 PM

    Mr Dharmalingam,
Is it better to dissolve the army?????????? you will even tell that also.

    Sinhaya Monday, 25 October 2010 03:51 PM

The fellow wants the terrorists to regroup and rearm? Don't trust these fellows ever again. Keep them under strict Military scrutiny!

My friend be patient, we just finished the war, things will happen gradually on solid grounds..

    wasala Monday, 25 October 2010 03:03 PM

Bullshit when did you go to north last?

Reyaz Mohideen Tuesday, 04 May 2021 05:12 AM

Army was not given proper authority back in the 70s. That is why Sinhalese and Tamil oppertunists took advantage of the situation and played with the lives of the innocents. The Armed forces must make sure all children of the land are safe. God bless SLAF.
