Armed gang get away with Rs.16.8 million worth jewellery

An armed gang that entered a branch office of a leasing company in Gampaha town today is alleged to have robbed the staff of their cash and jewellery.

They had entered the office pretending to be customers of the leasing company.

A senior official of the leasing company said the robbers had taken away one million rupees in cash jewellry worth more than 16.8 million rupees. He said the robbers fled in a double cab.

Gampaha police are conducting further investigations.(Tillekaratne Dissanayake)
