I think very young children should not participate in long distance sport events.

People must understand even for a healthy individual long distance running (once in a while) could extremely strain the heart.

Running 800 meters is not long distance - for a healthy young boy of 16 - what has happened to our country ?
Prasad Tuesday, 19 March 2013 10:54 AM
Yes it is true.
It should be done for a long time with proper workout to train the body. Sudden race will accelerate the heart and this kind of things can happen.
Parents : Please keep your children physically active to prevent this.

Ban long distance races for children. Where is the fitness test that was mandatory for such races???
Buffaloa Citizen Tuesday, 19 March 2013 11:21 AM
You are right...this child may have had a hidden heart ailment.

I thought that after the recent death of a school girl, instructions were issued by Govt to schools to have their athletes tested medically?
Bushel Tuesday, 19 March 2013 02:03 PM
Few years back these were not heard.president ordered medical test to carry out recentlywith the demise of the child prior to this. Action must be taken for not following up instructions
