A group of 87 asylum seekers from Sri Lanka had been rescued by Indonesian Maritime Police in Panaitan Island where they were stranded after they ran out of fuel, food and water, the Gulf Times said.

The refugees had left Sri Lanka on a boat on August 31, 2010 to reach Australia’s remote Christmas Island.
