A trishaw driver who is alleged to have spread rumours about grease devils was produced in Court today and remanded till Saturday, the Modera police said.

The man was arrested on a complaint made by the Police Intelligence Unit.

His defence counsel Inoka Gamage and Senaka Perera said the man’s arrest was a gross violation of his right to free expression.

The Modera Police said they have two tape recordings of the alleged statement made by the suspect and would make their submissions after studying the contents of the tape recording. (T. Farook Thajudeen)
