Alleged child killer drowns in Madola

The suspect who was arrested in connection with the killing of an eight-year-old girl in Akmeemana, Galle died after drowning in the Madola while attempting to escape from police custody, Police said today.

He had jumped into the Madola while the police was taking him to locate several weapons. The suspect died before being admitted to the Karapitiya hospital. Two police personnel who tried to save him were also admitted to the Karapitiya hospital.
