Action on Iran will cause third WW: Wimal

Any military strike on Iran would bring about a third world war, Minister Construction and Common Amenities Wimal Weerawansa said today assuring that Sri Lanka is ready to face any consequence of it.

Addressing a public ceremony in Kaduwala today Minister Weerawansa said Sri Lanka is ready for any consequence of an international conflict including a food shortage.

Minister explained that it would be obvious that countries such as China and Russia would get involved in an event there is a military strike in Iran. He said a dangerous situation would arise in such a situation. “Sri Lanka would also be affected in such a situation, “he said stressing the need for making the country self sufficient,” he said.

He said there have been discussions on a possible food shortage while the Europe and the West becoming more and more alarmed over such a shortage. Mr. Weerawansa said the objective of the government is to avert a food shortage in the future. (Yohan Perera)
