The police commenced a special operation to combat drug trafficking and drug related offences today, police Chief Mahinda Balasuriya said

Special teams from each police station will be recruited to undertake the operations against drug kingpins in the area.

We will be going after the suspects who are involved in the drug business. Addicts will also be taken into account, but if the distributions of drugs are halted to a certain extent the number of addicts will also reduce, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mahinda Balasuriya said
