An Inspector of Police (IP) attached to the Yakkala Police Crimes Division was arrested by the Bribery Commission while soliciting a bribe of Rs.15,000 from a businessman at Bandarawatta today.
Director (Investigations) of the Bribery Commission, SSP Padmini Weerasuriya, said the businessman, who is from Wathurugama, is on bail over a case filed against him in the Gampaha Magistrate’s Court by the Yakkala Police.
The IP has assured to get the bail conditions lessened at the next court hearing.
The arrested to be produced in the Colombo Magistrate’s Court, SSP Weerasuriya said. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
