Replying to reports of Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s name not appearing in the list of those renounced US citizenship as at June 30, MP Namal Rajapaksa said they will present documents if needed.
“Don’t worry about SLPP candidate. If his documentation is the issue, will present if needed,” the MP tweeted in reply to Non-Cabinet Minister Dr. Harsha De Silva.
Dr. De Silva tweeted that they have been told that Gotabaya had completed all documentation with regard to the renunciation of his US citizenship.
“I for one believed it but in the last hour or so we are told that his name is not in the list as at June 30. So, yes, I am confused. Need more information,” he said.
