Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said the world-famous SriLankan airlines would be restructured and converted into a profitable venture.
Speaking at an election rally in Dehiwala on Monday, he said the airline would never be grounded while its employees would be retained.
“We are considering the possibility of obtaining the support of a foreign airline with experience and modern technology for the restructuring process. We are formulating a mechanism for the Treasury to bear losses of up to US$1,200 million,” the Prime Minister said.
He said the once-profitable SriLankan Airlines was turned into a loss-making venture because of the poor management during the Rajapaksa regime and underscored the fact that it was a challenge to rescue the airline from its current situation and make it a profitable venture.

RW knows that SP is not going to make him the Prime Minister if he wins, so these are his attempts to ensure SP fails, so that he himself can be the opposition leader. Not a problem for him as MR pays him for keeping his family out of prison. The political story of Sri Lanka.

Now we know you are lying. You and your ministers were saying sell for USD1 for years.

Ranil is still shamelessly continuing to talk nonsense. In restructing the airline he will install his cronies and again mess up for the tax payers to bear the losses and the cronies to enrich themselves.

Don't talk nonsense man. You made it lose millions by paying a fine to cancel A350s. Are wearing anything?

You had your chance but you were not capable to do anything. Don’t you understand that. Without being greedy allow the younger generation to find the way and time for you to retire without cheating the people any more
