Wanted murder suspect shoots himself

Sumith Dayaratne alias Podi Sagara, a suspect wanted for several crimes including four murders in Katunyake and Seeduwa areas had shot himself while being confronted by the Police at Gokarella last night.

The suspect who is a resident of Seeduwa had fled the area and had been hiding in the house of his ex-wife when the Police had confronted him. (Jude Samantha)

    I think it is a more modern way, which is better than the Police having to shoot the suspect in self defence, or to prevent escaping by swing across a river with had cuffs on.
