A total of 895 COVID-19 cases were reported in the country yesterday out of which nearly 500 cases were reported from the Western Province.
According to the National Operation Center for Prevention of COVID-19, 218 cases were identified in the Colombo District while 147 cases were identified in the Kalutara District and 129 cases in the Gampaha District.
The majority of cases reported in the Colombo District were from Piliyandala. Accordingly, 71 cases have been reported from Piliyandala, 30 from Talangama, 19 from Colombo Fort and 18 from Kottawa.
Among the highest cases identified in Kalutara district were, 91 cases from Beruwala and 32 from Kalutara. Ten Covid-19 cases were also reported in the Kalutara Prison.
Covid cases in the Divulapitiya area in the Gampaha district also continued to rise as 48 patients were identified yesterday as well. In addition, 17 cases were reported in Ragama.
A total of 147 cases were reported in the Kurunegala District and among them 95 cases were reported in Wellawa and 20 cases in Kuliyapitiya.
In addition, 49 Covid-19 cases were identified from Puttalam, 22 from Matale, 20 from Jaffna, 18 cases each from Kandy, Moneragala and Hambantota, 16 from Ampara, 14 from Kegalle, 10 from Galle, 09 each from Trincomalee and Ratnapura, 07 from Anuradhapura, 11 from Badulla, 08 from Mullaitivu, 04 from Nuwara Eliya, one each from Polonnaruwa and Mannar and 15 persons who arrived in the country from abroad reported as Covid-19 infected yesterday.
Meanwhile, a total of 5,159 PCR tests had been conducted in the country on Saturday. Accordingly, the number of total PCR tests conducted in the country since October 4, 2020 up to date is 2,173,245.

covid cases here in sri lanka is increasing these days..what are the actions of the government to it and how will they make the people safe? its very dangerous to go out now for work or school... what will happen in this coming days or weeks... are they planning to have a lock down again?

A two week hard lockdown is not going to have any more negative impact on an already gone economy. We are used to surviving a hard lockdown. Don't try to be smart or patriotic. Just do it! We will follow what the 'sars' tell us to do.
