Underage girl overplays love

As the extensive damage and loss of life caused by the Aranayake landslide made national headlines, another shocking story has emerged from the area involving an underage girl who had eloped twice with two young lovers within a span of two weeks and being sexually abused by both of them.
The underage girl’s two young boy friends aged 16 and 19 who had eloped with her were remanded after being arrested by the police.
The 14-year-old girl had initially eloped with her 16-year-old boy friend on May 22, but they were later found by the police in the Eppawela area.
The boy was taken into custody and remanded till May 31 over charges of abusing an underage girl.
The Judicial Medical examination had found that the girl had been sexually abused by the boy.
Within two weeks after the first lover was remanded, the girl had again eloped with another boy with whom she had also had a love affair. Police later found the girl with this 19-year old boy at a roadside in the Thabarawa area and arrested the boy.
The second judicial medical examination had revealed that the girl had also been sexually abused by the ‘second’ boy who was remanded till June 7 by the Mawanella Magistrate. (Saman Wijaya Bandara- Aranayake)

True, so many racial comments including yours, religion or communities have nothing to do with these types of activities but poor parenting is the major reason, am sure this poor girl is from a broken family and needs counselling, our societies need proper helping hands and sexual education, lets hope our administrators get this right.

Wow so many racial comments from ethnicity-based critics on this page. What about genital mutilation, honor killings?? It seems people who comment here love to live in segregated communities promoting alien cultures. We have to give voluntary therapy solutions and social education to the minds of orphans and uneducated. Why are not rich people not willing to extend a voluntary helping hand in theses situations but only extend it only when there is natural disaster and also digitally rich people just blabber on sites, especially the minorities. Even girls in abayas and hijabs get raped and mutilated. The rich and senile communities want to burden the poor youthful community with carrying the heirlooms of their sick traditions, rather than promote interracial harmony, tolerance and compassion towards helpless youth.

this girl and her parents should be sent for counseling. Bad parenting and lack of parent watching over their children is the result of this girl's acts. Somewhere down the line something has happened and she has got the taste of eloping. Don't only blame the boys. it take 2 hand to clap.

Girl should have been examined at the very first incident to cross check her traumatic condition of any and whether she is in dire need of care by someone which was later misused by the guardian or bf.

16 year old boy also is under age. So he should be released. 19 years old boy is over 18, but Sri Lankans are children even at 19.Sometimes you find girls as young as 14 , trying to stimulate and seduce older men. May be their genes or food thye eat and bad movies. 19 year old boy could have refused to take her.

This is the ugly truth about todays girls of the majority ethnicity in SL. Big contrast to the girls of the minorities. Tamil and Muslim girls are more conservative due to their high religious and cultural values compared to the majority ethnic group.
