Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, after a discussion with a team of his party seniors, decided last night to call for a meeting of the working committee on Thursday and conduct a secret ballot to select the presidential candidate, Daily Mirror learns.
The participants of this meeting conducted at Temple Trees were ministers Vajira Abeywardane, Lakshman Kiriella, Ravi Karunanayake, Lakshman Kiriella, John Amaratunga and Daya Gamage. They decided that the working committee of the United National Party (UNP) should meet on Thursday for the secret ballot to choose the candidate.
This decision was taken in the wake of party’s Deputy Leader Minister Sajith Premadasa calling for a secret ballot at the working committee to decide on the candidate. He has already announced that he will contest the presidential elections this time. The elections will be conducted on November 16, 2019. (Kelum Bandara)

Ha ha who appoints the working committee ? The leader Ranil. So is this democratic ? It is like like chooses the caandidate.

As it appears, Leader of UNP is determined to destroy the party, or he thinks just postponing matters will give results to his favor. He and the seniors who blindly back him should be aware that their popularity is eroding at a strong pace and before long UNP supporters will start hating them.

So Wednesday became Thursday and that will become when. You are chasing away UNP members by such selfish attitudes and actions.

sajith is not a popular or someone keep trust on him he is genuinely work for the country, but due to unpopularity of Ranil he may come up

On Thursday, UNP die-hard supporters must encircle Sirikotha and PM office, to demand, true democracy from the PM. Unless all the UNP parliamentary group do not get a chance to vote, separately, to decide the candidate, it will be a futile exercise as Patalie told. If, the UNP candidate is not Sajith, he must contest separately.

Ranil should be hanged to death for destroying UNP.
Lord Wolfstein Monday, 23 September 2019 01:57 PM
All party members should decide. That would be democratic
