Two suspects who robbed Rs. 2.9 million from a financial institution in Akuressa Town today were arrested along with a locally made firearm as they were fleeing, police said.
They said the cash was robbed as it was being prepared at a financial institution to be deposited into a private bank.
The suspects were arrested following information received by a police team at the Akuressa Police when the suspects were fleeing with the cash.
The suspects who are aged 32 and 35, were identified as residents of Hakmana and Dikwella. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
