A mother and daughter were killed when the three-wheeler they were travelling in had collided with a cab on the Anuradhapura Puttalam New Road in Pothanegama, Anuradhapura this morning, the Police said.
They said the collision took place when the three-wheeler took a sudden U Turn to the opposite direction and collided with the cab travelling from Anuradhapura to Puttalam.
The deceased, aged 73 and 54, were identified as residents of Pandulagama.
The injured were admitted to the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital.
Two cab passengers including the driver and three-wheeler driver are among the injured. (Athula Bandara)

The politicians should have the backbone to ban the 3 wheelers in SL. It has been portrayed as a poor man's vehicle but safety wise it is an absolute disaster. The problem is aggravated due to undisciplined 3 wheel drivers.
