The Sinhalese version of the official website of the Ministry of Tourism Development and Christian Religious Affairs and the website of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Honorary Consulate in Kerala were reportedly hacked this evening by an organisation calling itself the ‘Tamil Eelam Cyber Force’.
The website displayed a long message from the Tamil Eelam Cyber Force and also a rolling news feed message which said ‘Hacked By Tamil Eelam Cyber Force’.
When contacted, Tourism Minister John Amaratunga said he had nothing to do with the site and that there was no one at the Ministry as it was a Friday.
“If anything has to be done to the site, we will have to wait till Monday, as I am also out of the ministry right now,” he said.
When Daily Mirror contacted, the Computer Emergency Readiness Team | Co-ordination Centre’s (CERT|CC), the Principal Information Security Engineer Roshan Chandragupta said they had not received any complaint from the ministry regarding the website hack.
“We did not receive any complaint from the ministry, but only from several other institutions and media personnel. We are looking into the matter,” he said. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)

Ah! Genocide genocide. Why don't they welcome boat people again. I also want to 'migrate for economic benefits' all in the name of 'genocide' - BTW. It does not exist in SL.

I am not surprised by the answers given by this senior minister for lack of accountability in this country. It is time people in Sri Lanka think hard and far and vote for people with some basic education, not the thugs being voted in to the so called parliament. You have been voting in murders, drug dealers and basically criminals to the govern the country. Sri Lankans, do you understand the problem? If yes, fix it. Heads should be rolled for this blunder.

The Ministers response sounds about correct for the government. No one at work, but being paid anyway, no concern about the problem or understanding it needs to be dealt with quickly.I am amazed by one thing though, the LTTE managed to find a government website that worked well enough to hack it!
