Australian Tom Moody has been appointed as the Director of Cricket, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), announced today.

Moody, under whose tutelage Sri Lanka reached the final of the 2007 World Cup, has been signed on the recommendation of the Cricket Advisory Committee chaired by Aravinda de Silva and he will take over this role from tomorrow.

He has taken on this newly-created role on a consultancy basis, and will need to fulfill a 300 days of ‘Mandatary Assignment, over the three years he has been contracted for.

“Among many of his duties include the Analysis of the Future Tour Programme, focusing on the Domestic Tournament Structure, Player Welfare, Education and Skill Development, Coaching and Support Staff Structure and High Performance and Data Analytics,” an SLC statement read.

‘’Tom has worked with Sri Lanka Cricket in the past and has shown results, and I am sure with his working knowledge of the system, Tom will add greater value to our game,’’ Ashley De Silva, CEO of SLC, was also quoted as saying.

Moody has previously served a similar role with Caribbean Premier League and currently holds the same position with the Sunrisers Hyderabad Indian Premier League franchise.

One of the better appointments by the minister, now clean up this administration and get persons who are capable and not greedy for money but are paid professionally for services offered. Forget their past record as a good player is not necessarily a good coach.

No issue for SLC to pay huge sums to Moody but for our own legend Vaas, a different treatment.

Yes, very good move. With our own guys, our Cricketers will never learn, but when a Foreigner comes they will take much interest and come up.

SLC is a nose diving aircraft. Will moody stabilise it or crash with it.

OK Tom.... Beat the Tom..Tom and get down to business. No pending backwards to please anyone. I wish SLC could have hired ANIL KUMBLE instead of Tom Moody. SLC has no guts to get a person like Kumble as would have put all these people in their place.

If god comes to coach S. L cricket, still they will loose. This is a team uncoachable . This team has the worst record in ICC , they should be removed from test cricket status. Not even god can save this team.
