A tense situation has been reported at the Maskeliya Pradeshiya Sabha during the ballot to elect the Chairman and Vice Chairman, a short while ago.

Police teams were summoned to the scene to control the situation.

Meanwhile, a clash reported between the Ceylon Workers' Congress members and National Workers Congress members opposite the Maskeliya Police station. Police Special Task Force and several Police teams were deployed to control the situation. (Ranjith Rajapaksha and Gamini Illangatillake)
