A 37-year-old suspect, arrested over an attempted murder, died due to using of force by the police during a raid in Veyangoda this morning, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.
He said the Western Province Crimes Division had arrested the suspect identified as Nishantha Kumarasiri, a resident of Veyangoda in connection with an attempted murder on December 19 this year, in which a 38-year old man was injured.
He said the police conducted a special search operation along with the arrested suspect in the Veyangoda area.
"The suspect had died by the use of force by police during the operation. A police constable (driver) was also injured in the incident and admitted to the Gampaha Base Hospital," the police spokesman said.(DSB)
