The Sunday masses in curfew areas will be cancelled following detection of a number of Covid-19 positive cases from the Minuwangoda Apparel Factory cluster, Spokesman for the Archdiocese of Colombo Rev. Fr. Camillus Fernando said.
Accordingly, the curfew is in effect in Minuwangoda, Veyangoda, Divulapitiya, Kelaniya, Ja-Ela, Gampaha, Kirindiwela, Dompe, Pugoda, Ganemulla, Weeragula, Weliweriya, Malwathuhiripitiya, Nittambuwa, Mirigama, Pallewela, Yakkala, Ja-Ela, Kandana and Seeduwa.
Fr. Fernando also said masses in other areas could be held under strict restrictions and adhering to the health guidelines like wearing face masks, maintaining social distance.
“It is up to the respective parish priests to decide whether to limit the participants and the number of masses,” Fr. Fernando added.
Meanwhile, Wakf Board of Sri Lanka has restricted the maximum number of worshippers for Friday prayers and all other prayers to 50 persons at a time.
The Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs informed all the devotees to restrict religious practices at public religious places. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
