Sri Lanka is getting colder as the temperature levels in several areas seem to have gone down during the last 48 hours.
The lowest temperature of 9.2 degrees (Celsius) was recorded in Nuwara Eliya, while the temperature in Bandarawala was down to 15.4 degrees.
The temperature in Katugastota was 23 degrees on Tuesday and went down to 22 degrees as of last afternoon. The temperature in Anurdhapura was down to 23.7 degrees from 24 degrees on Tuesday, likewise was the temperature in Vavuniya which had gone down to 22 degrees.
The temperature in Ratnapura was 23.7 degrees, Moneragala 24 degrees, Puttalam 23.6 degrees, Badulla 19 degrees, Colombo 25 degrees and Moneragala 24.8 degrees.
Meanwhile, the Department of Meteorology forecasts the cold weather to continue over the island, particularly in the Northern, North-Central, Central, North-Western and Eastern provinces. Showers or thunder showers are expected in a few places in the Central Province and in Ratnapura, Galle and Matara districts.
Mainly fair weather is expected to continue elsewhere. Fairly strong gusty winds up to 40 kmph can be expected over the Western and Uva provinces and in the Ampara, Puttalam, Kegalle and Hambanthota districts. Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces during the mornings. (Yohan Perera)
