Seven persons had been arrested by the Police last night in connection with the recent unrest situation at the Galaha hospital where an infant child had died.
Police said the suspects were arrested on charges of causing damage to public property.
A group of angry mob had attacked the hospital in the wake of the death of a one-and-a-half year old child at the hospital on August 28.
The residents claimed that the child, a resident of Delthotawatta, who was brought to the hospital after a sudden illness had died because of the delay in attending to the sick child by hospital authorities.
A doctor’s car and several windows of the hospital were damaged while a hospital doctor had also been attacked by the mob.

Those doctors and administrators needed to be arrested before anything else.

Finally some sanity prevails. Would this have happened if the doctors didn’t threaten to strike? We condemn strikes. But the sad state of affairs is nothing happens unless someone forces the authorities to do what they are supposed to do anyway. The biggest crime however is causing the death of the child by obstructing the duties of the doctor.

At the same time the doctors should not be allowed to getaway scot-free for their failure to attend to the infant earlier on. They should be charged with manslaughter.

The ministry of Justice and Health must take his incident very seriously. If the thugs are not nipped in the bud anarchy will prevail in Sri Lanka.

It was a very unfortunate incident. The general public should not take law unto their hands. This trend of attacking any government servant while carrying out the duties should be severely punished. The innocent people in Galaha lost the services of a free health service( may be temporaly). This should not be a precedance to similar acts especially in up country. There will be some interested parties instigating communal disharmony using this incident.

But doctors should be disciplined aswell. Most doctors think they are Gods and everyone INCLUDING the government is at their mercy. They often forget that they studied with out tax money from LKG to postgraduate, and their only objective in life is to make maximum money and enjoy.

These culprits who damaged State property, disrupted health service of a hospital and attempted to kill doctors should be charged under Sec. 300 of the Penal Cord for attempted murder and sentenced for 20 years rigorous imprisonment,

Already an irreparable damage has been done to the reputation of the doctors by this ignorant mob and biased sensationalist media coverage. When doctors loose respect, people will have no one to turn to in illness and suffering. What the doctor lynching hate mongers and media don’t realize is their ultimate victim is not the doctors but their patients.

The verdict goes in favor of the cheaply behaved doctor. This is a real third world approach. This is not the first incident where patient dead because of doctors negligence.

These cheap doctors are leading a coward's life - they qualify as doctors keeping in mind employment benefits - free housing, education, vehicle permits, pension after retirement. A union to fight for free goods services from govt and secure their jobs. In addition to that they work for pharmaceutical companies to promote their products and take commissions behind the curtain. But in a country like SL these cowards considered as upper segment of the society.

What crime did that infant commit? you so called doctors ignored your duty because of pure political reasons . Can you give this life back? This kid died because it was a normal man's child, a kid born in a poor family, that is the only reason. Remember, you will also cry like the poor dad and mother cried. I sometimes think that what if a huge tsunami hits sri lanka and wipe all with it.
