Former UPFA MP Sajin de Vass Gunawardena, arrested by the CID on charges of forcibly obtaining Rs.30 million from a company owner, was remanded till July 5 when he was produced before Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya today.
Police Media Division Acting Director SSP Priyantha Jayakody said company owner Krishna Selvanandan had in his complaint to the CID said Mr. Gunawardene had obtained the money by force.
Mr. Gunawardene was earlier arrested earlier on charges of misusing vehicles belonging to the presidential secretariat. (Darshana Sanjeewa)
