An appeal filed by Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara challenging Colombo District Court's order relating to UNP party membership of 99 SJB members was today dismissed with cost by Colombo Civil Appellate High Court.
The Colombo Civil Appellate High Court ordered the appellant-petitioner Ranjith Maddumabandara to pay a sum of Rs.25,000 as legal cost.
On June 22, the Colombo District Court refused to issue an enjoining order against UNP office bearers citing that the complainant has failed to disclose true facts relating to the expulsion.
Subsequently, Maddumabandara filed an appeal at Colombo Civil Appellate High Court challenging Colombo District Court's order which refused to issue an enjoining order preventing the UNP Working Committee’s decision to suspend the UNP party membership of 99 SJB representatives.
