Welcome rain! Unwelcome Flash Floods. Can't help it; in Sri Lanka both go together.

All over the world and cities flash floods occur - nature is behind it - not governments. Even in the deserts - if you have been - there are flash floods.

Just like Colombo for the economy, rain in Colombo is of no use

Whew! Hope the rains will stay for awhile. This is a welcome relief.

Polythene and shopping bags are the main cause for the blockage of drain. Public should be educated to keep the City clean and to throw the used bags into Bins as practiced by developed nations. This is a collective effort where Public must cooperate with the Government.

the Public seems to be blaming everything on Yahapalana. Honestly can we the public take blame for anything at all?? The blocks in drains are like 'Action' states is polythene and shopping stuck in drains, if we as citizen act responsibly and avoid such dirt and used polythene/shopping bags in proper bins this will not happen. Don't blame everything on the government [any government] because as responsible citizens we too have a duty to keep the environment clean. Each do your part this place will be a better place to live in.

Seems like you don't remember the floods in 2012 and 2013 - the exact same thing happened; Yahapalana was not even heard of back then?

Yamapalakas are worse. No one to take care of cleaning Colombo. But BIG talks about Megapolis......
