Ratmalana would be $100 million to upgrade - so 20% too small. Ahh at $300 million enough jam.

it is a good idea. the flights landing from madurai to katunakyake can be allowed to land in ratmalana airport. it will be an easy access to tourists to go from here to southern coastal tourists centre of moratuwa alutgama galle and matara. thinking postively and anternatively is the need of the hour instead of thinking otherwise. we welcome this idea.

Good idea, please don't name it after some politician like the previous regime and those previous to the previous regime... Call It "International Airport Colombo" or Sri Lanka Airport Colombo

As my point of view... Sri Lanka should 1st have an express airport train service to Colombo Fort. From Fort the passengers can access to the entire county.A train every hour would be best... Before that the authorities should get the rail lines inside the airports arrival and departure lounges.

In many countries, the main airport is linked with a train service. Why not use the existing railway line to provide a 24 hour train service to and from Katunayake. The taxi services available at the airport may not like the idea, but a regular train service is a must.

It is a good idea as long as they prepare a long term viable plan. Some of the budget airlines can use the airport to bring more tourist money to the country.

Idea good, but the main reason for this proposal had been already highlighted by the MP... i.e. "We can easily land small aircraft at the Ratmalana Airport and for this to happen it would have to be developed" which means SL got beg for the funds in the name of loans at higher interest rates. Has the minister got any statistics as to how many flights are landing at present vs in the past etc..???
