A sample of skeletal remains of the two businessmen who were allegedly abducted and killed in Ratgama will be referred to a DNA test after obtaining a court order, Matara General Hospital JMO Sumith Ambepitiya said.
The JMO said he had found important evidence related to the murders and among them were an unburnt piece of flesh and finger bone.
According to him, the parts of bones found first could be used to trace the crime and it was possible to bring some parts of bones from outside and put there in order to mislead the examination.
It has been revealed through the probe carried out by the CID that a police team attached to the Special Investigations Unit of the Southern Province Senior DIG had kidnapped and assassinated the two businessmen named Rasin Chinthaka (31) and Manjula Asela Kumara (33) on January 23, 2019, who were residents at Rathnaudagama in Boossa, Ratgama.
In connection with this double murder, a police inspector and sub inspector have been taken into custody and remanded after presenting them in court. (Krishan Jeewaka Jayaruk)
