Several spells of shower will occur in the Northern, Eastern, North-Central and Uva provinces and in the Nuwara-Eliya district.

"Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in elsewhere after 1.00 pm. Fairly heavy deluge above 100 mm could be expected at some places in the Sabaragamuwa, Western and Southern provinces," the Department said.

Meanwhile, the National Building Research Organization (NBRO) said that people living in Bulathsinghala in Kalutara, Dehiowita in Kegalle, Ayagama and Kahawatta in Ratnapura and Kotapola in the Matara District should be vigilant over possible landslides, since the rainfall within the past 24 hours has exceeded 75mm.
