Random rapid antigen tests would be carried out on those leaving the Western Province from Thursday (28) to January 31 (Sunday) at 11 exit points, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.
Such operations were conducted earlier during the festive season and ThaiPongal holiday as well.
During those operations more than 100 persons who were leaving the Western Province, tested for Covid-19.
The spokesman said that in addition, random Antigen tests would be further conducted on public transportation, fish and vegetable stalls and weekly fair centres.
Meanwhile, at least 1,000 drivers and assistants of public transport services and school transportation in the Western Province have been subjected to random rapid Antigen tests and three of them were identified as Covid-19 infected.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
