Deputy Solicitor General Dilan Ratnayake yesterday said that a broad investigation is being conducted to find the master-mind behind Thajudeen's murder and the connection of the three suspects with the main culprit.
Even though there is no sufficient evidence so far to identify precisely the main culprit, the investigation is being continued based on the information gathered into the inquiry carefully, the DSG said.
The prosecution also informed court that an investigation has been initiated over the suspicious four vehicles which had left Temple Trees on the day that Thajudeen was killed.
The DSG also said that the alleged Siriliya Defender which was said to have chased Thajudeen's vehicle before he was killed was also under scrutiny as the DNA tests are set be done with the Government Analyst over the Defender.
Colombo Additional Magistrate Isuru Neththikumar also questioned the prosecution about further legal steps over the three suspects named so far into the inquiry.
DSG Rathnayake said that the prosecution will look into the charges of the suspects and analyse whether they can be charged under section 294 (murder) of the penal code or to level actions against them excluding the murder charge.
Subsequently, the Magistrate observed that precise legal actions against the suspects should be taken as soon as possible without further delay over the allegations.
Suspects, former Narahenpita Crime OIC Sumith Perera, former DIG Anura Senanayake and former JMO Ananda Samarasekara were so far named as suspects into the inquiry.
The inquiry was postponed for June 27, 2019. (Shehan Chamika Silva)

Wow ... you dug his body out and stuck in a refrigerator for three years only to tell us, yet to find the master-mind behind the murder ?? This is excellent investigation and detective work. I suppose the training came from the Pink Panther ?

"There is no sufficient evidence so far to identify precisely the main culprit". This is unbelievable. If you have sufficient evidence to arrest the people who aided and abetted it is hard to believe that there isn't enough evidence to identify the main suspect. Something fishy is going on
