The Chinese Embassy has requested the Government to prioritize the Chinese nationals in Sri Lanka when giving the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine, Primary Health Care, Epidemics and COVID-19 Disease Control Minister Sudarshani Fernandopulle said.
She told media that it is yet to be found out the total Chinese population in Sri Lanka and added however, they would be given the priority.
The National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) recently gave the approval for the emergency use of Chinese Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine.
China has reportedly promised to dispatch 600,000 doses to Sri Lanka. The Chinese vaccine has been delivered to 56 countries at the moment.
