Price of gas up by Rs.195, milk powder down by Rs. 25

The Cost of Living Committee, which met this evening, has recommended to increase a 12.5 kg cylinder of gas by Rs.195.

It has also decided to reduce price of a kilogram of milk powder by Rs. 25.

Development Strategies and International Trade Minister Malik Samarawickrama had presented a Cabinet memorandum seeking approval for the price hike earlier today.

We the public have not clue based on what pricing strategy that the prices of goods goes up or down. Can the government clarify this ?

The simple answer is that the Nestlé mafia have asked for this as they control virtually all of the milk powder market and only worried about their bottom line.And the question you have to ask is why the Minister for Development Strategy getting involved for in recommending this to cabinet?

The reduction in milk powder looks like a distraction to counteract the gas price rise. The milk powder will rise very soon by more than the Rs 25. Looks like the race to the bottom is gathering pace and soon ......dread to speculate.
