President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has appointed a Presidential Commission to increase the productivity of the Sri Lanka Customs Department and to study its current situation, the President’s Media Division said.
It said the Commission is mandated to make recommendations to increase efficiency of the Customs and to prevent irregularities.
The Commission which is chaired by Supreme Court Judge Shiran Anthony Gunaratne consists of members like Appeal Court Judge Priyantha Fernando, High Court Judge Damith Thotawatte, CBSL Deputy Governor K M M Siriwardana, Senior Consultant (Trade) Dr. Sanath Jayanetti and former Customs Director General P. So there are ministers who draw their salaries and perks funded by the public and presidential commissions to do the work the ministers are supposed to go also drawing salaries and perks funded by the public . So all that's happening is the public working and funding a government that cannot work .

Customs is flawed because some people with power pressure customs officers or bribe them to let what they want in, our public money should be spent on prosecuting corrupt officials and stamping out corruption in the government, I'd be glad if tax money was spent on that

Corruption is all around SriLanka but the Customs and the Police rank in the very top. At least this President is trying to do something .
