President Maithripala Sirisena, as per the powers vested in him under the emergency regulations no 1 of 2019, has taken steps to ban National Thawheed Jammath (NTJ) and Jamathei Millathu Ibraheem (JMI) in Sri Lanka, the President's Media Division (PMD) said.
In a statement, the PMD said steps would be taken to freeze the assets of these two organisations and also to ban other extremist outfits in Sri Lanka.

This should have been done earlier. Hope BBS and JHU will be added to the list. Singling out a particular groups of a religion would be wrong as the BBS and JHU have acted in violent matters prior.

Ban the president and prime minister too. They should be prosecuted and gave the full force of justice for their part and inability to prevent this massacre. The state has failed when obvious information was available prior to attacks. To make things worse Ranil said to a Sky news that laws weren’t there to apprehend any local working for a foreign terror group. Army and security forces is once again dealing with this mess created by this govt and no use of a govt if all they do is hold people to ransom and brush things under the carpet for political mileage at the expense of people lives.
