Power supply in several areas mainly in the Northern part of the country was disrupted due to tripping of the Norchcholai Coal Power Plant, Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) said.
CEB Chairman Anura Wijepala said the tripping of the Anuradhapura-Puttalam transmission line led to the tripping of the Coal Power Plant.
He said power supply would be restored within an hour.

Live in Nugegoda. Two power failures today (13:00). Why does it take hours to restore a tripped line? Where are the ring circuits. To me it is lack of knowledge of the grid and inefficiency of the highly paid CEB staff!

To avoid this type of failure have 5 or 6 coal power stations
