Police today requested the general public especially those who live in Colombo to continue their support to prevent COVID-19 spread in the country and that the health authorities could make recommendations to lift the isolation status soon.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the health authorities would take appropriate action and make recommendations to free the areas, housing complexes and streets which are currently under lockdown or isolation.
"We would like to request the general public, especially from those who are living in lockdown areas to continue their support to implement quarantine rules and regulations for a period of one month.
In order to implement this, we seek your support and cooperation continuously," he said.
DIG Rohana said that those who are residing in housing complexes and plantation areas, which are currently under lockdown should be patient and be supportive to the health authorities to contain the spread of virus.
He urged the public to avoid gathering in public places and refrain from supporting attempts to create unrests. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)

Come and take a look at the isolated areas yourself. And also bring the army commander and president and the whole lot. People are suffering. Why don't you support and cooperate with us instead?

In some areas like Kolonnawa you are only lockdown few lanes and by roads. What is logic behind that? It is a complete joke. People who live in these by roads don't have the right to move but others can in the same "Grama Niladhari" division.

It is possible for a person from a lock-down or isolated area to travel to any part of the country and spread the disease as public transport is not limited to unlocked parts of the country.
