The overall voter turnout for the General Election 2020 stood at 71 per cent, Elections Commission Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya said a short while ago.
Voter turnout at close of polls was recorded as 75% in Nuwara Eliya, 74% in Badulla, Trincomalee and Monaragala, 73% in Wanni, Ratnapura and Hambantota Districts, 72% in Colombo, Digamadulla and Batticaloa, 71% in Polonnaruwa, Kegalle, Matara, Kalutara, Matale, Kandy and Anuradhapura, 69% in Galle, Kurunegala and Gampaha, 64% in Jaffna and 63% in Puttalam District.
