More than 12,000 police officers and armed forces personnel have been deployed to cover all churches in Sri Lanka for the Easter Sunday service, Police spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.
He said that this special security arrangement has been implemented under a special circular issued by the IGP.
A total of 9,365 officers from Police and STF have been deployed for duty while 2,522 members of the Tri Forces will also be patrolling to provide security.
He said special security measures has been provided at churches around Negombo, Chilaw and Batticaloa.
DIG Rohana said that Police mobile patrols will be conducted in areas where churches, cathedrals and shrines are situated.(DSB)
