One injured in shootout between military & armed group at Settikulam

One person was injured in a shootout between an armed group and a group of military personnel on duty near the Settikulam forest reserve in Vavuniya last night, police said.

A group of three armed men had opened fire at the military personnel on duty in the Settikulam reserve to prevent illegal timber smuggling.

One of the injured men was admitted to the Settikulam Hospital and later transferred to the Vavuniya Hospital for further treatment. (Sithum Chaturanga)
